Task 2 - How does your product represent particular social groups?

It is apparent from the construction of social stereotypes within our piece that the correlation with particular social groups would be prevailent. Intially the concept of attaching a social group to our product was difficult because our media product was aimed to appeal to wide range of male viewers. However, upon deaper relfection it became apparent that there are two main social groups that are represented with in our piece.

The Vulnerable Female

From the above screen grab we can see that the traditional vulnerability and physical weakness of a female is used to exploit the emotions and fears of women watching this piece. When the youth of a girl is taken advantage of, it is more likely to be relatable to the female audience. The common media of news and newspapers uses this technique frequently to attach soical occurances to social groups.

The Powerful Male

Furthermore we are presented with 2 powerful male figures. In the patriarchy that we exist within today the development of power within a male character is something that is a very successful technique to attract a male audience. Furthermore the steroetypes that exist in our product, not only relate to the power of a man but also the nationalities that would charactaristically be considered as "criminals".
